Mrs. Gross has chosen Rachel Thurston as her student of the quarter. Rachel is a student in Plant Sciences this year and comes to us from the sending school of Washburn. She is a senior this year and will be graduating soon. Rachel has worked hard all year, but she did exceptionally well during the Mother’s Day Tours that AgriScience students put on at the school farm for grades Pre-K to grade 2. Rachel is normally very soft spoken, but she rose to the occasion and helped instruct the younger students how to plant their marigolds. She didn’t do her speech just once either; she did it numerous times a day for about a week and a half. Mrs. Gross and Mrs. McCurry could not have been prouder! Congrats Rachel and we wish you the best of luck after graduation.
Mrs. McCurry’s student of the quarter is Georgia Gardiner. Georgia is a student in the science block who has made tremendous gains during this year. Georgia has very strong academic skills in chemistry and is usually ahead of the rest of the class and seeking extra work to enhance her learning. She was able to step out of her comfort zone and participate in events at the FFA Maine State Convention, where she had a number of successes. She was our only entrant in the Floriculture event and created several wonderful arrangements. She also volunteered at the Orono Community Garden while at the convention and served on the Courtesy Corps for the Environment and Natural Resources event. All in all, Georgia has had a great year in our science block and we have very much enjoyed her!
The Cosmetology program’s student of the 4th quarter is Annicka Benson, a junior at Fort Fairfield Jr./Sr. High School. Throughout her time at PIRCTC, Annicka has not only blown us away with her gifted artistry in the areas of nail art and makeup design, but she has consistently scored in the top of the class for all of her theory assignments and exams. Her quiet determination, professional demeanor, and attention to detail will serve her well in any career in cosmetology. Although she will not be returning to PIRCTC in the fall due to her family moving out of the area, we wish Annicka all the best and know that we are all better for having shared this year together. Good luck, Annicka and CONGRATULATIONS!

A first year student in the business department, he has been on time, prepared, and positive. He often redirects his peers in class to accomplish more, and motivates others to be productive and responsible in the classroom setting. Zech can be counted on to continuously work and achieve anything that is set before him. Mrs. Hunter is pleased to announce Cierra Levasseur as the quarter 4 student of the quarter for Early Childhood. Cierra is a second year student in the program and is also an Early Childhood aide this year. This year Cierra has gone to Wintergreen Arts Center to help in their private preschool program. Cierra has been a big help to the Wintergreen program and the children at the center enjoy having her come and play. Mrs. Hunter relies on Cierra to help her complete many tasks throughout the center here at PIRCTC. Cierra does the majority of the center photo copying and helps create extra special things for the children. Cierra is the bulletin board master and is full of lots of creativity. She comes up with ideas and is able to see them through until completion. This year the center has been full of vibrant displays of color as a result of Cierra’s love of bulletin boards and door decorating. Best of luck next year, Cierra!
