1901 Robert’s Marine Engine
What’s been happening in Mr. Harper’s Drafting & Engineering Technology program? Lots of cool stuff! One project is the 1901, 3 hp. Robert’s Marine engine. Back a few years ago, the project was started as a cooperative project with MIT mechanical engineering students. Our students created the drawings and parametric models while the MIT students created a working prototype as a senior capstone project. For some time we have wanted to have a 3D model of the complete engine. To that end, Josh Dahl has been working to adapt and 3D print the various components. Josh is a senior and a second-year student in the Drafting & Engineering Technology program. In the fall he will be attending the University of Maine, College of Engineering Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) program.
