Chemistry of Fertilizers
What makes agricultural chemistry agricultural? Here’s a good example! For the past few weeks, we have been studying the chemistry of fertilizers – what nutrients plants need and how fertilizers can provide them in the proper form. Last week, students formulated three different fertilizers and then tested them for phosphate content using a colorimetric analysis. They have planted radishes, carrots and catnip and will now test the effectiveness of their fertilizers on the three different crops.
