Adventures in AgriScience
The students in Aquaculture and Animal Sciences had the opportunity to visit one of the State’s fish hatcheries. The salmon were not quite ready to spawn so students helped sort the fish by gender in the raceway. They were able to see eggs in the hatchery that had been collected the day before. Students also were able to speak with the fisheries staff to learn about education pathways to help them land a job in a hatchery.
Plant Sciences students were invited to the school farm to help get the beehives ready for winter. Students suited up in bee suits to help clean out remaining bees so maintenance can be done on equipment over the winter. Once the students got past the unease of standing in bees, they thoroughly enjoyed the experience!
