Agricultural Chemistry at the Cider Mill
Recently, students in Agricultural Chemistry were able to participate in a hands-on, two-day experience at the school farm. They spent one morning in the cider mill sorting apples and sending them through the washer and into the grinder and then pumping the mash into cloths to be pressed. The next day was spent bottling the cider that they had pressed into 8 ounce, 1 pint, half-gallon and gallon containers. The students worked hard, had a great time and will follow up with an apple cider project in the classroom.
