Early Childhood visits PI Fire Department
On October 18th, the Early Childhood class took the Head Start children to the Presque Isle Fire Department for a field trip. It was a cold and windy day but fun was had by all. The children got to tour the fire department and got to walk through the trucks. They also got to try on Deputy Fire Chief Rider’s helmet. Mr. Rider tried on all of his gear and demonstrated what firefighters have to wear when they go into an active fire. The students also got to the see the ladder truck be set up and watch a fireman climb all the way to the top. All children left with a souvenir firefighter helmet. This field trip came at a great time as October is Fire Safety Awareness Month.
