Aquaculture and Natural Resources

Aquaculture and Natural Resources classes went to the Grand Lake Stream Fish Hatchery for their fall visit. Students learned how to tell the gender of the salmon to aid in the process of milking the fish for eggs and semen. The fish were the largest we have ever had the opportunity to view, and students were able to question the staff at length. The group was also given a tour of the area where fertilized eggs are hatched and raised. Even though it poured, students made the most of the day and look forward to a return visit in the spring to clip trout fins.
